DJ Whoman
His DJ name merely a phonetic spelling of his real name, for Whoman, Las Vegas is the city of opportunities. Growing up in the capital of Iran has given DJ Whoman a different, unique outlook on his life. His high school years were tough trying to overcome the language barrier and normal high school problems. After graduating he began college studying Biology and after only one semester changed his major to Engineering. During this time he found himself distracted with no real ambitions and his lifestyle was affected by his social life. It was at some stage in this time that Whoman found relief in music. Some of the most sought after DJ’s in the world such as DJ Jazzy Jeff, Q Bert, Jam Master J, and a number of his local DJ friends inspired new goals in Whoman and gave him new aspirations.
Family and friends gave him his first real chance to DJ at events. Gigs from networking kept him busy in the beginning spinning at private events. All of his hard work paid off when Whoman then landed his first industry gig at Sky Afterhours inside Scores playing progressive and dance music. From there Whoman was given his first residency at Pirate Lounge inside Empire Ballroom where he was required to play hip-hop and rock mashups which was a new twist to his professional career. Mastering his skills at mixing hip-hop and rock made Pirate Lounge the most popular hip-hop and rock afterhours.
After a year and a half of residency at Empire Ballroom, Whoman was offered a spot inside Voodoo Lounge at the Rio. Bringing his fresh mixes and unique sounds, DJ Whoman brought VooDoo to a whole new level of energy. Today, Whoman constantly challenges himself, trying to come up with new interpretations to what everyone else is doing. With a mindset that he can always improve, Whoman is still working on his mixing, turntablism, and production skills. Completely self taught, he has risen from standing on the sidelines, to running the show. His most current challenge is a new residency for Radio Nabz a new radio station that broadcasts over the internet.
